BCCI announces IPL Auction 2026 date, venue, IPL team remaining purse

The countdown to the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) has begun. Following the completion of the retention process on Saturday, November 15, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the date and venue for the IPL 2026 auction. A total of 77 players, including 31 overseas stars, are set to go under the hammer in Abu Dhabi. Now, teams will compete for the remaining spots with a combined auction amount of ₹237.55 crore in Abu Dhabi next month.
On which date is the IPL 2026 auction?
The IPL 2026 auction will take place on Tuesday, December 16th. The IPL 2026 mini-auction will also take place on this day. The BCCI confirmed this exciting news through its official channels. The venue is located at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, where many major cricket events have been successfully hosted. Teams will gather there to bid for their players.

Total 77 slots, Rs 237 crore will be spent!
An IPL team can have a maximum of 25 players. All teams released some of their players before the auction, and will now bid for the remaining slots on December 16. A total of 77 player slots remain across all 10 teams, including 27 foreign players. The combined purse balance of all teams is ₹237 crore, which will be spent in the auction. The number of vacant slots and purse balance for each team is given below.
IPL 2026 Team Remaining Purse
1. KKR Purse Balance 2026
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will enter the IPL Auction 2026 with the biggest purse of Rs 64.30 crore, giving them enough room to rebuild and strengthen their squad after releasing high-profile players like Andre Russell and Venkatesh Iyer.

2. CSK Purse Balance 2026
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are in second place with Rs 43.40 crore, aiming to strengthen their squad after retentions.

3. SRH Purse Balance 2026
Talking about Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Kavya Maran's team will compete to fill 10 spots, including 2 overseas players, having retained 15 players for Rs 25.5 crore.

4. LSG Purse Balance 2026
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have retained 19 players, leaving them with only 6 slots to complete their squad in the auction, 4 of which are for overseas players, and their bid is Rs 22.95 crore.

5. DC Purse Balance 2026
Delhi Capitals (DC) have retained 17 players, leaving 8 slots vacant, including 5 overseas players, and have ₹21.8 crore available.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) also have 17 players retained, with 8 slots vacant, including 2 overseas players, and have Rs 16.4 crore in their purse.

7. RR Purse Balance 2026
Rajasthan Royals (RR) retained 16 players, leaving 9 slots vacant, including 1 overseas spot, and Rs 16.05 crore to spend in the auction.

8. GT Purse Balance 2026
Gujarat Titans (GT) have 20 players on their roster, with 5 slots vacant, including 4 overseas players, and have a purse of Rs 12.9 crore.

9. PBKS Purse Balance 2026
Punjab Kings (PBKS) retained the most players from their previous squad – 21 players, leaving only 4 spots, 2 of which can be filled in the auction for foreign talent, where they can spend Rs 11.5 crore.

10. MI Purse Balance 2026
Mumbai Indians entered the auction retaining 20 players but have only 5 slots left to fill, including 1 overseas slot, and have the lowest purse of ₹2.75 crore.
