India Announce Squad for NZ ODIs: Big news has emerged for Indian cricket fans. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Senior Men's Selection Committee announced the Indian squad on Saturday for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Several significant changes have been made to the team, with young players being given opportunities while also focusing on managing the workload of senior players.
Shubman Gill to captain, Shreyas Iyer named vice-captain
Star batsman Shubman Gill, returning from injury, has been appointed captain for this series. Reliable middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer also makes a comeback to the team and has been given the responsibility of vice-captain. However, Iyer's availability will depend on receiving fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
Pandya and Bumrah rested, emphasis on workload management
Keeping the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup in mind, the BCCI has decided to rest star all-rounder Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
Notably, the BCCI's Chief Executive Officer has given clear instructions regarding Hardik Pandya's bowling workload. He is currently not allowed to bowl 10 overs in a match to safeguard his fitness before the World Cup.
