MI retained and released players ahead of IPL 2026 auction: Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have announced their squad for IPL 2026. After a disappointing 2025, the team will enter the new season with a new direction and a balanced squad.

With the retention window closing, MI have retained their core players and experienced foreign stars, while also making some significant trade deals. The team has focused on bringing balance to all departments.

MI Core players retained

Mumbai Indians have decided to retain the following pillars of their team:

• Rohit Sharma (batsman)
• Hardik Pandya (all-rounder, captain)
• Jasprit Bumrah (bowler)
• Suryakumar Yadav (batsman)

Apart from these, young talents like Tilak Verma and wicketkeeper-batsman Ryan Rickelton have also been retained in the team. Among the overseas players, names like Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner, and Ryan Rickelton will likely remain, given their roles in previous seasons and their team balance.

MI has strengthened its squad with some major trade deals for the 2026 season. Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford have been added to the squad.
