The Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, formerly known as the Stadio San Paolo, is a large multi-purpose stadium in Naples, Italy. Completed in 1959, the stadium is the fourth-largest football stadium in Italy, after the San Siro in Milan, the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, and the San Nicola in Bari. Initially designed with standing and seated sections, it is now an all-seater stadium with a seating capacity of 54,726. It is the home ground of the current Serie A champions, SSC Napoli. Following Diego Maradona's death in 2020, the city's mayor, Luigi De Magistris, and Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, proposed renaming the stadium "Stadio Diego Armando Maradona." The proposal was passed on December 4, 2020, and the mayor announced it on social media, making it official that same day.
