In the same year, he played his first T20I game against Bahrain in the Desert Cup T20I Series. Johnson scored a brilliant ton in that series against Oman, which was also the highest individual score for a Canadian batter in the shortest format back then. In 2023, he made his ODI debut against Jersey and also scored his second T20I century in the same year.
