Born on February 10, 2006, in Assen, Netherlands, he stands at 1.85 m (6 ft 1 in) and weighs 73 kg (11 st 7 lbs). He is the son of Peter Hoekstra, the manager of the FC Groningen youth academy.
Hoekstra began his youth career at ACV Assen before moving to the FC Groningen academy in 2017. He progressed through the U18 and U21 teams, and ultimately signed his first professional contract with the senior team in May 2025, which runs until June 30, 2028.
He made his professional debut in the Eredivisie on August 29, 2025, in a match against Heracles Almelo. For the 2025-2026 season, Hoekstra primarily plays for the U21 team, where he has registered 2 goals in 15 appearances.
